Old stuffingbox modified to fit a Volvo Blackjack
Probably done 13 years ago, when the engine had an total overhaul. 13 years later the blackjack was leaking very much. The bilge pump working overtime is not something I like.
The old stuff removed and dumped.
375 Euro later, I got new stuff in the mail.
PYI PSS - Hard to find in Denmark. Bought it in Germany (Bremen), since the US company would not ship it to DK/Europe - weird!
Carbon fiber ring, stainless rotor (500g - not in the photo) a rubber hose, and 4 hose clamps - wonder if it will hold the seawater out of the boat?
Cleaning up and degreasing the stern tube is important, before installation.
It´s clean - allright!
Ready to mount. Had to trim some of the fiber glass around the stern tube, to make room for the PSS.
The company says that it´s OK to mount the hose on the threads of the stern tube... so I did.
There you go - mounted. Only the stainless steel rotor and the ventilation hose needs to be mounted before splash-day :-)
